Xylitol is a white crystalline powder that is odorless, with a pleasant, sweet taste just like sugar. Xylitol occurs naturally in many fruits and vegetables and is even produced by the human body during normal metabolism. Because it has been shown to reduce the development of dental caries (cavities), it has gained increasing acceptance as a natural alternative to sugar. Xylitol comes from plants rich in hemicellulose and is commercially produced primarily from corn cobs and stalks and from birchwood/hardwood trees. Xylitol is equal in sweetness to white table sugar (sucrose).
*In some sensitive people, larger amounts of xylitol could cause a loosening of the bowels. If this should occur, reduce intake of xylitol products. Adaptation to larger amounts of xylitol usually takes less than 2 weeks.

If you look on a web site called Healing Teeth Naturally you can find an article about a xylitol protocol that says some amazing things about healing cavities and gums with xylitol. if i remember correctly it was the Buhl protocol, but I'll have to check on that. One half teaspoon three times a day or more, rinse with the saliva mix for some minutes and spit out. My teeth felt stronger and I still can't believe last dental visit no cavities. I have not checked for about three years and I usually always have cavities. Check it out!

Best Xylitol for natural remedies
I use Xylitol in warm filtered water as a natural remedy for sinus problems and I find this is the best brand for relief and does not burn my nose when irrigating or using the Neti pot.
