XyliMelts - Let’s Talk Relief from Dry Mouth

Many people suffer from dry mouth and for several reasons. Some people struggle to find relief from dry mouth because of cancer treatments; some just fail to produce sufficient saliva in general, possibly due to side effects from medications; and others have some very serious health issues, including immune disorders like Sjogren’s syndrome. We have many customers who have experienced dry mouth, and we understand the discomfort that it causes them. Because so many people struggle with this syndrome, we keep our eyes open for new and improved alternatives for giving temporary relief.

What are XyliMelts® for Dry Mouth?

OraCoat XyliMelts are a fully dissolving oral-adhering disc with the active ingredients of Xylitol and cellulose gum that are gradually released into the mouth. These long-lasting discs help to temporarily relieve dry mouth. You can use them both during the day and while sleeping.
Because the XyliMelts dry mouth discs are small, they are discreet; many people wouldn’t even be able to tell a person had one in their mouth!

What Do XyliMelts Actually Do?
The XyliMelts discs are made to temporarily relieve dry mouth, but to do that, the little disc:
  1. Coats, moisturizes, lubricates, and soothes the mouth
  2. Stimulates saliva
  3. Reduces sleep disruption caused by dry mouth – XyliMelts adhere strongly to teeth and gums
    a. XyliMelts can be used with CPAP machines, OAT, and dentures
    b. XyliMelts can be used while eating and drinking as well!
  4. Reduces plaque and may reduce tooth decay
  5. Freshens breath
  6. Releases calcium carbonate to neutralize acids to help support oral health; XyliMelts are non-acidic with a pH of 8.1

What is Xylitol?

Xylitol is a natural food substance and natural sweetener that does not promote tooth decay and has fewer calories than regular sugar, and it helps fight cavities.

How does one use XyliMelts?
1. Just place the disc at the gum line on the outside of a molar, upper or lower, whichever is most comfortable to you. The white side of the XyliMelts disc should be touching your cheek and the tan adhesive side should be against your gums and/or teeth.
2. Next, just press your tongue on the disc to push it to a comfortable spot. Once a favorable location is found, leave the disc alone to adhere for 10 seconds. During these 10 seconds, do not touch it with your tongue or finger – this will disrupt the adhesion process which grows stronger as time passes.
If you are using these while sleeping, it is recommended that a person use two XyliMelts, one on each side of the mouth. However, try 1 disc at night and adjust to two if needed. Do not adhere XyliMelts to the roof of the mouth for use while sleeping. XyliMelts are not recommended for children under the age of 5 – there can be a risk of choking.
Otherwise, use as needed throughout the day.
