4 Products to Help You Find Relief from Canker Sores
Many Americans, actually 20% in fact, struggle with canker sores. Still more, if your parents had canker sores, you are 90% more likely to get them as well. If you are female, you are twice as likely to get canker sores as are men. This all seems incredibly unfair and painful.
Did you know that your toothpaste’s ingredients could be irritating the canker sores? We feel that no person should have to struggle with canker sores because of wanting good dental hygiene.
Squigle® Enamel Saver® Toothpaste with Flouride & Tooth Builder® Toothpaste
Both of these toothpastes are mouth friendly and free of Sodium Lauryl Sulfates (SLS) and other ingredients that can irritate canker sores, including cocamidopropyl betaine, tarter control agents, and bleaches. These two canker-sore friendly toothpastes have 36% Xylitol by weight which inhibits the growth of plaque.
Did you know that plaque secretes irritating acids, which may trigger canker sores? So, less plaque means fewer canker sores.
Squigle® Enamel Saver® has a mild mint flavor that helps prevent the irritation of delicate tissues, and it contains fluoride.
Tooth Builder® is flavor free and fluoride free.
We recommend brushing with either of these toothpastes twice daily. If you are switching from an over-the-counter or store brand, we would recommend trying the Squigle® Enamel Saver® first, as it is most like your traditional toothpaste. However, because of being SLS free, these toothpastes do not “foam” like traditional toothpaste.
Zilactin®-B Long Lasting Mouth Sore Gel
Zilactin®-B is a gel with patented bioadhesive that creates a barrier over canker sores and other mouth sores that locks in powerful medicine. The gel barrier lasts for up to 6 hours, and its main ingredient -- an oral pain reliever, benzocaine -- is proven to help provide relief from canker sores.
This canker sore product is for adults and children 2 years of age and older. For children under 12, please provide adult supervision.
How do you use Zilactin®-B? Easy! Just dry the affected area, then apply a thin coat of the gel with a cotton swab or clean finger. Allow the canker sore and mouth sore gel to dry for 30-60 seconds. You can apply it up to 4 times daily.
Durham Canker-Rid One of our top-selling products, Durham Canker-Rid® is a resinous substance which honey bees gather from tree barks and leaves. This resin mixes with nectar, wax, pollen, and bee bread to form Propolis.
Durham Canker-Rid® numbs the affected area as it starts the healing process. Did you know that Propolis acts as an infection protectant and a preventative supplement to provide a superior source of bioflavonoids and amino acid?
For best results: dry saliva from the canker sore, or other sores, with a paper towel. Using the Durham Canker-Rid® bottle, apply 1-2 drops to canker sore. If you would like easier application, apply Durham Canker-Rid® to canker sore with a cotton swab saturated in the propolis -- about 3-5 drops. Once Durham Canker-rid® has been applied, breathe through the mouth to speed drying. At first, you may have a burning sensation, but immediate relief will follow.
